Photography Course Outline

This course will consist of three main areas. Each area will cover theoretical aspects as well as hands on experience and the opportunity to work with your own camera and apply learned skills.

Part 1 – Cameras & Lenses

  • Introduction
  • My Background
  • Difference between cameras:
    • Mirrorless and mirrored
    • Full frame and crop frame
  • Some of the lenses and their uses (i.e. landscape, portraits, events, architecture etc)
  • How to read lens information and determine which lens is right for you
  • Camera modes, special attention will be paid to manual mode on your camera
  • F stop
  • Shutter speed
  • ISO
  • White balance
  • Manual focus
  • Automatic focus
  • Continuous shooting
  • In camera timer
  • Image formats (RAW, JPG, pixels and what they mean)
  • Formatting the card in camera
  • Tripod/monopod – how and when to use them
